  • Sasha Banks made history by wrestling in Abu Dhabi

WWE Superstar Sasha Banks says the people involved in the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi are helping to change the world.

The wrestling icon was in the UAE promoting the event, which takes place in March, and found herself being inspired beyond belief.

Banks has always been known as someone who wanted to become a wrestler from a young age, but she has discovered her work outside the ring is even more rewarding – as proved by her trip to Dubai.

“My dream was always to be in the WWE but I think now in this era of social media we can use our platforms and our voices we can support things like Special Olympics and make a difference,” she said.

“My goal in life has always been to use my voice for something positive and help make the world a better place. We only have one life and we have to use everything we have to make a change and make a difference.”

During her time is Dubai, Sasha was accompanied by Chaica Al Qassimi a martial artist who is training to be a judo referee in the Games.

The two instantly hit it off, with the WWE superstar in awe of her new found friend.

“I arrived in Dubai after a 15-hour flight and was pretty tired but then I met Chaica who just changed my life and put a huge smile in my heart,” she said.

“Meeting amazing athletes like Chaica make you realise how much more important our work is – it’s so much more than what we do in the ring, it’s what we do outside of it too.

“The Games show that athletes can do anything they dream of. They have so much heart, drive and passion, it’s more than looking at their disabilities – it’s about their abilities and what they can do and achieve.

“Chaica has made such a difference already. With her drive and passion it makes me realise there is so much more to this world. We can all make a change in this world, we all have a story to share and I think it’s really beautiful to use our voice in a positive light.”

The Special Olympics World Games will be held in Abu Dhabi, March 14-21.
