  • Fans arrive – under heavy police guard – for England versus France friendly match at Wembley, UK on Tuesday.

England played host to France in an emotional friendly at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening.

A lone helicopter patrols football's most famous arch, visibly lit with the colours of the French flag.

That helicopter is part of a much larger security team deployed at Wembley stadium to ensure the safety of public and players alike during the England-France friendly.

The heavy police presence was visible for all to see as fans arrived at the ground, ready to make a stand against the terrorist that attacked Paris on Friday.

While many suggested the game should be called off, the French FA was quick to stress its desire for the match to go ahead.

This despite the French national team having witnessed the terror attacks first hand.

Suicide bombers detonated explosives outside the Stade de France during their friendly against Germany on Friday evening.

Once on the pitch, with Prince William in attendance, the players and crowd observed a moment of silence for the victims.

While all those present inside Wembley stadium came together to sing La Marseillaise, the French national anthem.
